Ankit Umeshkumar Shah – A Perfectionist, Entrepreneur, and Loving Father
Ankit Umeshkumar Shah, my father, is a man of precision, discipline, and boundless love. At 43 years old, he has carved a niche for himself both as a successful entrepreneur and as a dedicated father. His journey from being a young boy who loved to explore the world to becoming the head of a thriving business is filled with stories of hard work, determination, and love for his family.
Early Life and Career Journey
From a young age, my father was always passionate about traveling. He was curious about the world, eager to explore different places, and learn new things. That same sense of adventure and curiosity has remained with him even in his adulthood. He frequently reminisces about the places he’s visited, sharing tales of his childhood wanderings. His fondness for travel is something that connects us on a deep level.
As he grew older, my father’s focus shifted towards building a career. His first significant job was at LG in 2004, where he learned the ropes of working in the corporate world. His diligence and drive didn’t go unnoticed, and by 2008, he had started his own company, Gintech Computers. This was the first step towards establishing himself as an entrepreneur, following in the footsteps of his own father, Umeshbhai Shah, who also built a successful career from humble beginnings.
In 2014, he shifted gears and joined Aegis Infoware Private Limited. However, his entrepreneurial spirit never dimmed, and in 2018, he ventured out independently to start his own company, Moksh Enterprise. Moksh Enterprise focuses on dealing with government tenders on the Government E-Marketplace (GEM) platform. Through sheer hard work and strategic planning, he has turned this venture into a thriving business.
My father’s courage and adventurous spirit extended beyond the workplace. In 2017, he boldly traveled alone to Canada, a trip that showcased not only his bravery but also his independence. The following year, in 2018, he made another significant journey to the United States, marking another milestone in his adventurous life.
A Loving but Strict Father
As much as my father is a dedicated entrepreneur, he is also a deeply loving father. I, Shriyak Shah, am his only son, and his love for me is evident in everything he does. He often uses a playful phrase: “Papa loves Gortu, and Gortu loves Shravika.” Although I might not fully agree with it, it’s his way of expressing affection in his unique manner.
That being said, my father also has a strict side. He has high expectations for me, and when things don’t go as planned, he can be quite harsh. He believes in discipline and sometimes goes overboard, even beating me black and blue when I’ve disappointed him. Although this aspect of our relationship is challenging, I know deep down that his intentions come from a place of love and wanting the best for me.
His strictness extends beyond just discipline. He is very particular about how things should be done, whether it’s how the house is kept or how tasks are executed. His desire for perfection is something that can be both admirable and overwhelming, as it often takes him a long time to make decisions or execute an order. He’s meticulous, and every choice he makes is thought through thoroughly.
The Food Critic and His Taste for Perfection
One of the more humorous sides of my father’s personality is his role as a food critic. He has an excellent palate and is never shy about pointing out flaws in my grandmother’s (Smita Shah’s) cooking. Whether it’s a misplaced seasoning or an undercooked dish, he’ll always make sure to comment. It’s all in good fun, of course, but his attention to detail extends even to the dining table.
Despite his critical nature, he doesn’t believe in indulging in costly items. My father is frugal and prefers to live a simple life, avoiding extravagance whenever possible. He believes in saving for the future and values hard-earned money, a lesson he has undoubtedly passed on to me.
My Nickname: “Dafod”
In our house, everyone has a special nickname, and for me, it’s “Dafod.” I’m not entirely sure how it came to be, but it’s the name my father always uses when calling me. It’s a playful term, one that shows his affection and fondness for me. Even when things get tough, and we don’t see eye to eye, his use of this nickname reminds me that underneath it all, his love for me never wavers.
A Reflection of His Father
In many ways, my father follows in the footsteps of my grandfather, Umeshbhai Shah. He has inherited his entrepreneurial spirit, his love for travel, and his dedication to family. Just as my grandfather built a successful life for himself through hard work and perseverance, my father has done the same, creating a legacy that I am proud to be a part of.
My father’s life is a blend of discipline, love, and adventure. He is a man who sets high standards for himself and for those around him. While his strictness can sometimes be hard to handle, I know it’s his way of showing care and ensuring that I grow up to be a responsible, capable individual. Through his actions, he teaches me every day the value of hard work, the importance of family, and the rewards of perseverance.
